As we start to transition back to public activity after the shelter-in-place orders are reversed, many people will still want and in some locations be required to use masks while in public. Finding adult masks has been difficult enough, but finding children's sizes is even harder, so I put together this quick and easy tutorial for you on how to make kids sized masks from something you probably already have.
Items Needed:
Older Pajama Bottoms or T-Shirt
Scissors
Step 1:
Find a pair of pajama pants or a T-Shirt that your child has out grown and measure it for fit. You want the side that you will not be cutting (the fold of the fabric) to comfortably stretch across your child's face.
Step 2:
Cut out the desired section and set aside.
Step 3:
Cut 4 thin strips of fabric from the other leg or sleeve to make the straps (if the garment is long you only need 2)
Step 4:
If you cut 4 strips knot two of them together in the middle to form two straps.
Step 5:
Slide the straps through the openings on each end.
Step 6:
Adjust the fabric around the straps so that the mask lays comfortably on the face and tie it on.
I hope this takes a little bit of stress off of you and helps your family stay healthy and safe! This tutorial will also work for adult sizes masks just use the appropriate sized shirt or PJ pant.
